Questions and Answers
So here it is, the deadlines is tomorrow. The Form says its to be mailed out on, or no later than march the 2nd of 2009. It says postmarked on or no later than the date above. But I have a doubt that if I submit it, on the deadline date they won"t accept it. What do you think? Would you recommend that I pay express shipping or overnight my form? Arghhh. Procrastination hurtssss.
One more thing, how much money is awarded by the cal grant? What"s the pell grant?

The fastest way to submit your GPA verification to the California Student Aid Commission is electronically. In fact, they would prefer that your school submit the form to them that way. Have you asked your counselor to submit the form for you? It takes 2 minutes at a computer – they know how to get this done.
If you"re mailing this form yourself, make sure that the "for school use only" portion of the form has been completed, and that the form has been signed by an authorized school representative;
"Only an authorized high school or college official may complete the “For School Use Only” section of the GPA Verification form. The signature of the high school or college official is required by law and certifies that, under penalty of perjury, the reported GPA is true and accurate."
Here"s what the Commission says about mailing:
"Persons sending application materials by mail are encouraged to obtain a $1.10 U.S. Postal Service Certificate of Mailing to retain as proof of submission. More expensive proofs are not required. Applicants should make a photocopy of the completed Cal Grant GPA Verification Form before mailing. Online application submissions must be completed by the deadline. Students are encouraged to make a screen print of the confirmation message received upon completion of submission of the FAFSA. Schools should do the same if submitting the student’s GPA online."
and
"The use of other mailing services is not necessary and may slow the processing of the form."
If it"s in the mail tomorrow, with all the proper signatures (black ink only!), you"re fine. Buy the $1.10 Certificate of Mailing", and take it in to the post office yourself well before 5pm, so that it will receive a March 2nd postmark.
Good luck – I hope that helps reassure you.
Http://www.submitexpress.com/ is this a legitimate company and not a scam.
I have used their services before and their service works as far as submitting your site, however this does very little for your site. It is much better for the engines to find you through links.
Fraud sweepstakes money express?
HI,
Today I got a mail letter saying that I won a big amount of money, therefore I needed to send $28.50 so they could send me the big amount of money! Can I sue this people for what their doing? I mean, just imagine all the people who get this same letter and send 28.50 everyday, I cant believe it! Let me know what you think.
I received the same letter from
Sweepstakes Money Express
9101 West Sahara, #105 PMB 600
Las Vegas, NV 89117.
I"ve posted the address because I am curious if they move around and have used other addresses. Does anybody know?
I read the language carefully. The letter reads that you are paying to secure entries to win (not receive) an amount from $612,444.89 up to $1M. The language is sufficiently ambiguous that it appears you are paying to enter a sweepstakes–no real guarantee of any winnings to my eye.
The text on the back of the letter advises that you may submit without making payment of "premium incentive". In which case you must use your own envelope and not the prepaid return envelope that they sent. I missed the part that explains what the "premium incentive" is.
If I actually won then they should just deduct $28.50 from the winnings. Am I wrong?
I"m considering reporting this to the US Post Office. Mail fraud is a federal offense. The USPS has the responsibility for investigating these kinds of schemes. You might do the same.
